Firefox 3.5
Firefox 3.5 adds several new improvements to it’s ever growing browser.
The Fastest Firefox Yet
Things move quickly online, and we’ve beefed up the engine that runs Firefox to make sure you can keep up: Firefox 3.5 is more than twice as fast as Firefox 3, and ten times as fast as Firefox 2.* As a result, Web applications like email, photo sites and your favorite social networks will feel snappier and more responsive.

They say it’s twice as fast!!! We’ll see about that… we have yet to test the new application but for now we’ll take their word for it.
Other features include a new Private Browsing feature that let’s you surf without any traces left behind. Another new feature is Forget This Site where you can remove traces of a single web site visit.

Windows 7
Freebie’s have a limit… Any large business needing to purchase more than 25 new computers this summer will need to obtain additional Windows 7 licenses. This is a marketing attempt to sway more business owners into buying Microsofts high-end Enterprise agreements. The high-end Enterprise agreement would entitle a business to unlimited upgrades within the next 3 years in exchange for approximately $100 per PC.
This move shouldn’t affect average consumers who are entitled to a free upgrade to Windows 7 if you have purchase a new PC today through the day it’s released.

It’s been rumored that a Sony cellphone/game gear hybrid is in the works right now as we speak. Sony has formed a “project team” to come up with ideas. Sony has declined to comment on anything regarding the claims but I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this in the very near future. It only seems destine to be however when you consider the Sony Ericsson phone and the PSP… combine those two and you would have one helluva device!
Could this be what it may look like???

Netflix
LG has announced that it will start marketing new LCD and Plasma TV’s with streaming Netflix videos built in. This means you would not need an external device to use Netflix online. This comes as an extension of the agreement they have with each other since a few years ago.
“LG Electronics was first to embrace Netflix as a streaming partner a year ago, and was first in 2008 to introduce a Blu-ray disc player that streams movies from Netflix,” said Reed Hastings, Netflix CEO. “So it’s fitting that LG is the first to introduce Netflix instant streaming directly to the TV with these next-generation HDTVs.”
Netflix enabled set will be available in the Spring of 09′. Netflix will also have the service available in about 6-8 Blue-ray disc players and several other devices as well in 2009. The new LG devices will be unveiled at CES on Thursday.

Palm Nova
Everyone is expecting an announcement from Palm regarding it’s new next generation phone the “Nova”. The Nova is boasting a slide down Qwerty keyboard(sooo groundbreaking… NOT). Palm has stated that it will have great features that include media playback, calendar and e-mail…
I think that this will either make or break Palm as a company. They have yet to catch up to manufactures such as Apple and RIM who have continued to develop much better devices.
We’ll have to wait for CES and see what Palm has got, hopefully something that will save the company which is currently struggling financially.

PS3
Some unsettling news for Sony as they are set to come in at #3 this year in the console battles arena. Sales for the console alone are down a whopping 19% compared to last year and analysts are expecting that number to drop continually.
The reasons for the massive drop in earnings cannot be blamed on the economy since the Wii doubled sales compared to last year and the Xbox saw a 8% increase in sales. The real reason Sony is seeing a cut in their sales can be blamed on games and developers going exclusive with their titles. The top 5 selling games in November were exclusives to either the Xbox 360 or the Wii. The top selling game for Playstation in November was Call of Duty: World at War but the Xbox 360 version sold twice as much.
You can also say that Sony has gone through some rough times this year with layoffs and was banking on the PS3’s price tag to remain profitable. The only problem with this is that Xbox’s entry level console is half as expensive. You could buy a brand new Xbox 360 and a Blue-ray disc player for less than the price of a PS3. In this day and age consumers are making smarter decisions on how they spend their money. Consoles have become no exception.
